In the Works #6

Welcome back!

So sorry about the delay on updating this website. I kinda forgot about it while working on thesis work and research. Anyways, the galleries are chock-full of new work; drawings and paintings alike.

Enjoy and thank you for viewing.

In the Works #5

Good afternoon!

Sixteen weeks of my MFA career at Kent State University has already flown by. I have a semester of drawing instruction under my belt as well as having made several breakthroughs in not only my process but concepts behind my work.

The artistic process is unforgiving. It's tough. It's messy. It's discouraging. It took me 13 weeks to become frustrated and crumple up a drawing, only to become inspired by that tightly folded form. I found the inspiration in the form of the gesture of the figure and the gesture of the portrait.

I've discovered that a portrait can be null and void of the figure.

Good afternoon!

I just wanted to share my thank yous and gratitude for the support that has been given to me throughout the years. Whether you bought a piece of my art, traded me something, or just said some encouraging words, it means the world to me.

I was accepted into Kent State University for an MFA degree in Painting and Drawing and was also graciously awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, so I'll have my own Drawing I classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Thank you all for your continued support and love,

Kit Palencar
